At LCCS the athletic program is truly an extension of the classroom. Through sports, students are given real-life opportunities to develop a good work ethic, manage multiple academic tasks and activities, learn to balance church, school and family life, develop good relationship skills, and most importantly, develop a closer relationship with Christ. The experience of playing in team sports is something that athletes remember forever, and many life-long lessons are learned in athletics.
It is our goal to provide a high quality athletic program that gives our student athletes every opportunity to reach their potential in the sports arena and as individuals. We expect players to work to the limits of their ability to attain high skill levels, agility and mental understanding of the game, as well as maintain Godly character in every situation.
From the Athletic Director
Hi, my name is Mark Hobbs, and I am blessed to be the Athletic Director at Lancaster County Christian School. As a student growing up at a Christian school in New Jersey, a school just like LCCS, athletics was a huge part of my experience. From peewee basketball run by the varsity players, to the fun of middle school sports, to the intensity of varsity competition, I began the process of being shaped and molded for years to come. I am still close to some of my coaches and look back on them as life-changers more than coaches. I firmly believe that a Christian school athletic experience, if done right, can have eternal impact on students…and we strive our best to do things right.
First and foremost, our goal is to honor and glorify God in all we do. From the school hallways and classrooms to the locker rooms and fields/courts/courses of competition, EVERYTHING is about bringing glory to His name. After that, we pursue excellence in the way we treat our athletes and our athletes approach their sport of choice. Excellence looks different in many ways- whether in commitment to practice, development in the off season, or having our athletes and facilities look and act in a way that upholds those same standards. Our coaches are committed to reaching our athlete’s hearts at the same time as they look to develop the skills strategies necessary to perform at the highest level. Our captains and team leaders are taught servant leadership and to set the example through hard work, positive speech, and a never quit mindset. We make every effort to make our athletic teams a comprehensive physical, social, emotional, and spiritual experience. We go all out for our athletes, their families, and our fans.
"Servants, do what you’re told by your earthly masters. And don’t just do the minimum that will get you by. Do your best. Work from the heart for your real Master, for God." (Col 3:23 MSG)
