Summer Reading

Reading regularly is an important part of becoming a life-long learner. LCCS students have a summer reading requirement that is due on or before the first day of school - Tuesday, August 23.

Lower School students who complete their summer reading and math will celebrate with the "How Wet Can You Get" event this fall. Track your progress on the summer reading log and submit it to your teacher.

  • entering grade 1: 60 minutes per week + 5 books from the recommended reading list
  • entering grade 2: 60 minutes per week
  • entering grades 3 & 4: 90 minutes per week
  • entering grades 5 & 6: 10 books (5 from the recommended reading list + 5 of your own choosing)

Middle & Upper School students are required to read a minimum of one title over the summer. The title may come from the recommended reading list or a free-choice book that they have not previously read. Optionally, a second title may be read for extra credit.
