Meet the Coaches

Clay Brenner, Varsity and MS Cross Country
Coach Clay is a graduate of Lancaster Bible College with a love for cross country AND track & field. After competing in both high school and college, there was no way he wasn’t going to continue his career within the realm of coaching. Clay is a self-appointed “naïve optimist.”

Curtis Butler, Varsity Girls Basketball, Varsity and MS Track & Field
Coach Butler has coached in Lancaster county for over 20 years. Mainly basketball and track & field. Christian schools, private schools, AAU... you name it, he’s coached it. He joined LCCS in 2018 as an assistant Varsity boys basketball coach and was promoted post season to the Varsity girls basketball coach. He will also join the track & field program in the spring of 2020. On the weekends, Coach B is a DJ for hire.

Anne Hayward, MS Girls Soccer
Coach Hayward is an LCCS alum (class of 2011). After graduation, Anne went on to play soccer at LBC for four years. She has been coaching at LCCS since 2017. Having done coaching stints with both the MS girls and MS boys, she is a valued member of the coaching staff and well-loved by athletes and parents alike. She works the morning shift at Barnes and Noble - go hang out with her while she puts books away and makes you coffee.

Anthony Hernandez, MS Girls Volleyball
Coach Anthony is an LCCS alum (class of 2019) who played high school volleyball through the cooperative agreement with McCaskey High School. He was the starting setter and a senior captain. While at LCCS, Anthony also played soccer and was the manager for the boys basketball team.

Joanna Herr, Varsity Girls Soccer
Coach Herr has been coaching varsity girls soccer for over 10 years. Her love for quality soccer and her desire to cultivate strong relationships has made her a standout coach at LCCS. Over the years, Coach Herr and her team have played in countless playoffs, championship games, and district games, but her focus has never been solely on winning on the field. Her wins off the field are adding to the legacy that is Coach Herr and LCCS girls soccer. The girls soccer culture is one of honor, hard work, and fellowship! To go with coaching, Joanna is a wife, mother, pre-k teacher, and ice cream lover.

Angela Hobbs, MS Girls Basketball
Coach Hobbs is loved by all at LCCS. Especially her middle school girls basketball team. After taking over the program just one year ago, the number of girls playing basketball has almost doubled. She creates a fun, low pressure atmosphere that the girls can feel comfortable coming out and trying something new. “Ang” is passionate about helping kids learn how to navigate through life, using a big sense of humor and a bigger heart to connect with students from pre-k to upper school. Her hobbies include spending time with her kids, photography, and connecting with old friends.

Mark Hobbs, MS Boys Soccer, MS Boys Basketball
Mr Hobbs joined the athletic department in 2018 and has enjoyed coaching the MS boys since arriving. Having coached basketball, soccer, and track in WV, NJ, and CT, he brings experience from all over the map. His first desire is to honor and glorify God through whatever sport he is coaching. After that, he hopes that his players can learn something for “beyond the court/field” when their playing career is over. Mark loves LCCS because of the family feel to everything that happens here… especially considering his wife, Angela, works at the school, and all 3 of his kids attend.

Shayne Huber, Varsity Boys Soccer
Coach Huber is an LCCS alum (class of 2013) and plays locally with the local professional soccer team, the AFC Lions. He had an incredible experience as a Lion in high school and is looking to create that same experience for today’s generation of Lions soccer players. Shayne and his staff have been to CCAC Championship games in 2018, 2017, and 2015. Shayne likes brownies.

Nate Long, Varsity Boys Basketball
Coach Long is a lifetime Lancasterian who has developed a name in the county for coaching great teams that play with character and class. He has been dedicated to the program for almost a decade- starting as an assistant at Living Word, Head Coach at Lancaster Christian, and eventually taking over the helm of LCCS. His strong connection to his alumni and the community has been evident and only continues to grow. Nate’s creativity is leaving a lasting mark on LCCS and the Athletic Department. He has done everything for LCCS boys basketball- starting fundraisers, building locker rooms, and even designing apparel. Nate loves coffee, his family, and refurbishing Nerf guns with his boys… meaning his children AND his players.

Brian Wiggins, Varsity Golf
Coach Wiggins helped resurrect the LCCS golf program in 2018 and has taken it to a district qualifying team in 2019. He is a mild-mannered coach with great attention to detail and desire to see athletes improve. Brian’s son plays on the team, and his wife teaches pre-k at LCCS. The Wiggins are ALL IN for LCCS. In the off season, Brian referees basketball games.
