Meet the Coaches

Ben Armstrong, Middle School (5th/6th) Boys Basketball and Middle School Baseball
Coach Armstrong has coached at LCCS since 2019. Although it is important how his players perform on the court/field, he is more focused on coaching them to be godly men in their day-to-day lives. He promotes teamwork and positive attitudes toward teammates, opponents, and referees/umpires.

Curtis Butler, Varsity Girls Basketball, Varsity and Middle School Track & Field
Coach Butler has coached in Lancaster county for over 20 years. Mainly basketball and track & field. Christian schools, private schools, AAU... you name it, he’s coached it. He joined LCCS in 2018 as an assistant Varsity boys basketball coach and was promoted post season to the Varsity girls basketball coach. He will also join the track & field program in the spring of 2020. On the weekends, Coach B is a DJ for hire.

He has a passion for Christian education and athletics and has served in roles such as an athletic director, PE teacher, and coach throughout his life. He began teaching at LCCS in 2022. You will see him along with his wife Hannah and daughter Jocelyn at many LCCS athletic events. In addition to teaching PE, Coach Cartledge leads varsity strength and conditioning. He also helps lead the Lanco Christian Athletic League (LCAL). Coach Cartledge loves to see student-athletes learn and grow into strong young men and women who can live out their faith while participating in sports.

Anne Erb, Middle School Girls Soccer
Coach Herb is an LCCS alum (class of 2011). After graduation, Anne went on to play soccer at LBC for four years. She has been coaching at LCCS since 2017. Having done coaching stints with both the MS girls and MS boys, she is a valued member of the coaching staff and well-loved by athletes and parents alike. She works the morning shift at Barnes and Noble - go hang out with her while she puts books away and makes you coffee.

Shelby Fidler, Varsity Volleyball
Coach Fidler has been the girls varsity volleyball head coach since 2021, and has been actively involved with volleyball for over 20 years now. He began playing volleyball as a sophomore at Conestoga Valley High School and continued playing at Penn State Berks. While not coaching, Mr. Fidler spends most of his time working as a Patent Examiner for the USPTO, and being dad to his 3 awesome kids. He worships the Lord at Conestoga Valley Church of Christ where he also enjoys teaching the high school class. He has a mild addiction to coffee, loves watching movies, and playing sports.

Joanna Herr, Varsity Girls Soccer
Coach Herr has been coaching varsity girls soccer for over 10 years. Her love for quality soccer and her desire to cultivate strong relationships has made her a standout coach at LCCS. Over the years, Coach Herr and her team have played in countless playoffs, championship games, and district games, but her focus has never been solely on winning on the field. Her wins off the field are adding to the legacy that is Coach Herr and LCCS girls soccer. The girls soccer culture is one of honor, hard work, and fellowship! To go with coaching, Joanna is a wife, mother, pre-k teacher, and ice cream lover.

Mark Hobbs, Middle School (7th/8th) Boys Basketball
Mr. Hobbs joined the athletic department in 2018 and has enjoyed coaching the middle school boys since arriving. Having coached basketball, soccer, and track in WV, NJ, and CT, he brings experience from all over the map. His first desire is to honor and glorify God through whatever sport he is coaching. After that, he hopes that his players can learn something for “beyond the court/field” when their playing career is over. Mark loves LCCS because of the family feel to everything that happens here… especially considering his wife, Angela, works at the school, and all 3 of his kids attend.

Hope Hodges, Middle School (7th/8th) Girls Basketball

John Hostetter, Middle School Boys Soccer
John Hostetter has been involved with soccer much of his adult life. He played soccer at Washington Bible College and then coached travel soccer for more than 30 years, nearly 20 years here in Lancaster County. He obtained both his E and D coaching licenses under the guidelines of EPYSA. He is a teacher at Anchor Christian Academy. His passion to see students thrive both in character development and playing the game of soccer was nurtured by being father and coach to his six children.

Coach LeCates began coaching middle school girls volleyball at LCCS in 2020. She developed her love for the sport when she played three years of volleyball in highschool. She now enjoys playing in recreational leagues at Spooky Nook Sports. She loves the community she has found at LCCS. When not coaching or working, she is traveling, or reading a book in a coffee shop.

Nate Long, Varsity Boys Basketball
Coach Long is a lifetime Lancasterian who has developed a name in the county for coaching great teams that play with character and class. He has been dedicated to the program for almost a decade- starting as an assistant at Living Word, Head Coach at Lancaster Christian, and eventually taking over the helm of LCCS. His strong connection to his alumni and the community has been evident and only continues to grow. Nate’s creativity is leaving a lasting mark on LCCS and the Athletic Department. He has done everything for LCCS boys basketball- starting fundraisers, building locker rooms, and even designing apparel. Nate loves coffee, his family, and refurbishing Nerf guns with his boys… meaning his children AND his players.
